Dr Hiroshi Nakagawa (Principal Investigator)

Dr Hiroshi Nakagawa received his engineering degree from the University of Tokyo and joined the Faculty of Engineering at Yokohama National University for almost 20 years before teaching at the Information Technology Centre at the University of Tokyo for 19 years. Nakagawa has been doing research on AI for 40 years. His first research topic was logic programming and knowledge representation. In 1990, he moved to computational linguistics where he focused on computational aspects of pragmatics of Japanese language and on automatic terminology extraction systems. From 2000 through 2015, his main topic is machine learning. Currently, his effort mainly goes to the relation between AI and society.
